The DRK Blood Donation Service Baden-Württemberg – Hesse is one of the largest transfusion medicine facilities in Germany. Our mission is to ensure the supply of blood products to hospitals and medical practices in Baden-Württemberg and Hesse.

Ihre Aufgaben

  • You will drive independent research in the area of targeting epigenetic modifiers to improve in vivo gene therapies and develop gene therapeutic approaches for the treatment of monogenic blood diseases.

  • You will investigate the effects of known leukemic mutations on the absolute and relative expression of associated transcripts and contribute to publications in high-impact journals.

  • You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians and basic scientists, to design and execute experiments

  • You will present results at internal meetings and international conferences.

  • You will contribute to grant writing and project proposals to secure external funding.

Ihr Profil

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of high-quality research and peer-reviewed publications.

  • Strong expertise in epigenetics, gene therapy, or hematology-related fields.

  • Expertise in NGS-based methodology and R- (or Python-) based data analysis is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in international, interdisciplinary teams.

In this position, you will play a key role in the research with a focus on:

• The targeted modulation of epigenetic modifiers to optimize in vivo gene therapies, particularly in developing new approaches for monogenic blood disorders.
• Analyzing the effects of known leukemic mutations on the expression of relevant transcripts, both in absolute and relative terms.

This position is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of continued employment encouraged.
